Oh, I love this! 
Don't worry, I think that the style is fantastic. The big paws, tail, and head make him look like a young pup, and I think that fits very well with his pose and expression. Very carefree and just happy to be out exploring, like a puppy would be! And I adore all of the beautiful textures and details, especially in his fur and the foliage. The white lines in particular really help everything stand out and "pop" off the page.
